Info for institutes

There are many outstanding and nationally and internationally well known photonic research institutes in Switzerland with many active projects Aramis photonics projects subset (93 KB). They are organized in the following networks. NCCR-QP, OptETH, Swisslaser, SSOM

Support of innovation at institutes

Switzerland has many different programs to support innovation. The three major programs are:

  • SNSF Swiss National Science Foundation (650Mio. CHF/year). Mainly supporting basic science projects with some funds available for technology transfer for institutes and companies. Requests can be submitted anytime.
  • EU R&D projects (300Mio. CHF/year). Calls for specific topics are published periodically by the EU. Wait until your topic of interest is being published and submitt proposal (togteher with other companies and research institutes). Disadvantage: Low acceptance ratio and red tape. Advantage: Funding of R&D at institutes and companies.
  • CTI Innovation promotion (120Mio. CHF/year). Request needs to include at least one company and one research institute. CTI is funding the research at institute up to R&D investment of the company. Submit request anytime.

SLN support for institutes

SLN can support you and your institute! We offer free of charge: Support to find a matching company, support to obtain funding, access to international photonic networks, access to photonic market data and reports. SLN can also support you with respect to intellectual property questions, i.e. patent issues.

Seed money

SLN supports also its institute members with direct seed money (5000.- CHF) to prepare a CTI submission for selected projects. Just send in your short description of the project or just state your problem (200 to 400 words to 3ind$fop/@sg,wiy0sse#lak5set7r.o+neh(tr ) and the SLN board will decide within 2 weeks if the request can be honored with direct seed money.
